Congratulations Dick Costolo, you're finally Twitter legit.
It's unclear what prompted the change to Costolo's account. A rep for Twitter did not immediately respond to Mashable's request for comment.
The CEO of Twitter now has a blue check mark next to his Twitter account name, indicating that his profile is verified. The change, which comes almost exactly five years after Costolo joined the company, appears to have happened very recently, judging by the list of accounts followed by the @Verified account.
As a general rule, employees at Twitter do not have verified accounts. In fact, those who previously had verified accounts actually lose the blue check mark once they join Twitter.
