Given that technology companies are among the most profitable in the world, it wouldn't be unreasonable to expect their chief executives to take home an accordingly high salary.
Yet this isn't always the case. WhatsApp chief executive Jan Koum has committed to a $1 annual salary as Facebook's acquisition of the messaging app is finally complete - at a final cost of $22 billion. Koum is not elligible for any company bonuses, but is now the owner of almost 25,000,000 restricted stock units in Facebook, worth an estimated $2 billion.
The average tech worker in San Francisco earned an estimated $156,518 last year, according to JLL research, while the average salary southwards in San Mateo County is $291,497.
So how much do you know about how much tech's famous faces are earning?
