Chief Executive Vishal Sikka has shortlisted nearly 70 ideas from his crowdsourcing initiative, Murmuration, at InfosysBSE -0.31 % that saw more than 2,600 proposals. Infosys will integrate the idea which receives the maximum approvals among all the engineers in its strategy, expected to be announced next month.
"Three questions regarding innovative ideas, their delivery and skills were posed to all Infoscions and over 2,600 respondents sent in their ideas," Sikka wrote in an email to employees on Tuesday.
"These were evaluated by a team of leaders and clustered along specific themes. The clusters were further refined by leaders who were experts in those domains. The final shortlist has now been published for rating," he wrote.
"Each idea was evaluated based on set criteria - Desirability (for clients), Feasibility (for us), Potential (for growth in the market), Clarity (of thought and articulation) and Viability (with regard to Infosys offerings). Based on these parameters, 68 best ideas were chosen and further strengthened by the domain experts as applicable."
The shortlisted proposals include those on automation to help further the company's role in the Internet of things - the concept of a connected world - and in the fields of analytics and social media. One employee suggested that Infosys look at robotic automation as a tool for information technology service management as the company for now is not optimising its potential.
"A large bank who is our client has staff responding to 5 million alerts and are resolving 1 million incidents," the employee said, according to Sikka's email. "They (the bank) believe 50 per cent of this effort can be automated."

Significantly, these 68 ideas were chosen on the premise of design-thinking, including elements on how each of them will fare on desirability, feasibility, potential, clarity and viability - things that Sikka has been hinting in the past.
